Hye guys
Yes it seems like it takes me forever to update my blog but here it is!!! I have finally started school. And the lucky school is...drum roll please.... The American Academy of Dramatic Arts!!!! (loud applause)(children screaming).
I decided to fill in this update with pictures I had taken with friends of mine from the business. I am sure you have all heard of them; John Travolta, Nicholas Cage, Oprah, Robin Williams (again), Lenny Kravitz and many others. I hope you enjoy.
Yesterday was my first day and even though it was really exciting to finally be studying what I love most- Theatre- it still wasn't easy. I thoght we were going to start out with some acting lessons or singing lessons which I am really good at but that wasn't the case. The first lesson was "Movement" and that is positively not my area of expertise. I mean, don't get me wrong. I can shake it with the best of them, like when I'm out dancing at a hot night club or something, but classical dance is really not my cup of tea. You can only imagine how difficult it was for me to throw myself into first, second, and fifth positions of ballet while mixing it up with a little Jazz and just for the hell of it throwing in about 40 sit ups with my legs hanging in the air. I'm not Gumby for G-ds sake!!! My muscles still hurt all over. This morning I coughed a little and felt like a truck had run me over. To sum it up, there was a whole lot of movement in "Movement" class.
Two hours later, we went into Voice and speech. It was an interesting lesson about correct English and what they call "General American" and I was very into it the whole lesson until it was my turn to say my name. After all the Jessicas, Jenniffers and Kathys- "Sivan" was pretty tough for the even the teacher to pronounce. I tried to joke about it and say that people usually mispronounce my name, calling me “Sivaughn” and “Shuvan” but no one laughed. Why didn't my parents just name me Ann or something?
After we were done with class I walked down stairs and saw this girl with amazingly longs slender legs so I just came up to her and said "you have awesome legs". I'm like that. I believe women should complement each other on what they percieve to be beautiful and then they wouldn't waist their time on feeling jealous or intimidated. She was very nice and we spoke for a while. She told me that she is 18, straight out of High school and from Iowa. When I told her that I was born in Brooklyn and lived in Israel for ten years she was amazed and said:"Israel- wow that sounds cool". Then she asked me how old I was and when I said 25 she looked at me, completely shocked and said "Wow... you are soooooo old".
I think I said something like "Age is just a number" or something like that but I actually was thinking..."Oh my g-d... I don't beilieve she just said that!!! 25 isn't old at all!!!"
Ooouuucccchhhhhh. That hurt. But just a little. Don't worry. I'll get over it...
I'll fill you guys in and let you know what other crazy things happen at "The Academy", as we like to call it. "Fame..Im gonna live forever. Baby remeber my name..."
Cross your fingers and break a leg,
Sivan in the Dreamy City
